The key to being successful with laser therapy as well as buying the right equipment is having some basic education. I have a 35 page power point presentation which is a big help to this process if anyone contacts me by request I will email it to you. Class 3 Laser Comparison Chart

Of course there are many other Class 1-3 lasers out there. I don’t have all review info on every brand but if you ask about a particular company and brand I do have analysis I have done and will gladly email it to you by request! The below is mainly just a quick apples to apples specification glance comparing the strongest Class 3 laser LZ30 and some of the other Class 1-3 brands with the biggest brand recognition.

* The Infra Red wavelength is better for deep therapy and the visible red is better for superficial or systematic therapy.
** All the lasers show the continuous wave power except for the TerraQuant Pro which is peak power. Peak power is very different from continuous power but the TerraQuant is pulsed only so they spec the peak power.

Keep in mind this chart is to illustrate focus on the Cost Per Watt and only takes a look at some of the most mainstream well known brands. What isn’t shown on this chart is Diowave which gets their lasers from the same manufacturer that Aspen Lasers does. The main difference if we put Diowave on the chart would be an increase of $200-400 for the Cost Per Watt column depending on the model. Diowave also uses the control panel and features that go with that from 2012 vs Aspen 2015. Also Diowave still uses the traditional handpiece while Aspen has the manufacturer’s latest ergonomically designed hand pieces.

Update: Company still >does not have FDA Clearance and CEO Dr. Lytle is probably going to prison.

Yes ladies and germs the CEO I’m sure you remember him championing around at all the trade shows and big special conferences making endless claims about what his laser can do and what it could treat when the device did not obtain any 510K FDA clearances for the applications he recommended. He was even recommending shining the laser in the eyes for treating eye conditions!!!! Probably the biggest no no and issue with lasers when it comes to possible dangers is shining it accidentally in the eyes. This guy was head of the company for most of it’s time in business up until a couple years ago.

The FDA waited years and years accruing a huge case against the company.

“After several warnings from the FDA, this distributor was well aware he was in violation of the law by continuing to market laser devices for unapproved uses,” said U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson.

I am honestly surprised they have gotten away with keeping their company website up. Must have great lawyers..

But let’s talk about the laser itself. It uses very old technology which includes the battery and battery technology in devices has advanced so far in the last 10 years alone. The cost per watt is higher than other Class 3’s. The extra probe you should really get to obtain the higher infrared beam ends up being pretty costly to add on to the main unit. You also have a wire that connects to that extra probe to the main handheld unit making it more complicated to hold and do treatment applications.

The conclusion is this is an old technology low level laser and quite simply there are better devices for better price points in the class 3 category. And don’t forget folks you can get Class 4 lasers for even more competitive cost per wattage and just dial down the power on those to be at the same levels offered by the Q Laser!

Perfect example of inferior application approach effecting efficacy. Also go onto Youtube and watch a video demo with the laser. The laser is a good distance away from the treatment area and at such low power level this device is really closer in effect to a dermatological or aesthetic skin treatment device. If you want real great treatment outcomes being hands free like this is not the way to go.

“MLS” – Multiwave Locked System (not clinically proven).  AKA Psuedoscience. These units are very aesthetic (nice looking); but high priced in comparison- and are expensive to ship and repair (large robotic unit).

They have all sorts of fancy Pulsing options. There is hardly any clinical studies out there supporting superior efficacy with Pulsing rates. Make sure to look at my SuperPulsing video page to learn more and to sober yourself a bit if you have read their marketing material or talked to their sales people.

Another good example of a SuperPulsing device with low Average Output Power (I respect them for actually telling the consumer this spec though versus other laser companies selling Superpulsing devices that do not unless repeatedly asked or even threatened haha) that is grossly over priced. Remember that once you have the Average Output Power values you can then directly compare that spec to a Continuous Wave device and it’s power output. This is essential part of making your apples to apples comparison between brands and models.

Theralase® offers 2 groups of products (Portable and handheld). The first group uses a battery operated (rechargeable) desktop controller that works with 3 optional probes. The second group of products is a set of handheld cordless emitters. All their probes use at least one 50,000 mW super-pulsed 905 nm (near infrared) emitters as the main source of energy. Their cluster probes also include 2 or 4 beams at 660 nm wavelength (visible red).

Based on their “technology” (not proven Science), Theralase® claims:

4 inches of penetration with the 905 nm wavelength
1/4 to 1 inch of penetration with their 660 nm wavelength

Really? Ask them where is the proof to measuring those values…

Here is more techno babble:

“By using a high peak power of 50,000 mW from a coherent super-pulsed beam in bursts of a very short duration (only 200 nanoseconds), the Theralase® TLC-1000 gets better penetration without the risk of tissue heating (risk?? This is fear tactics. Prove it. They just made a claim.). The brief pulses of light energy are delivered at a high frequency of around 10 kHz. This means that superficial tissues will not heat up due to very short burst time but the high power level means better depth of penetration.

I saw this below on a laser website of a distributor who sells a few brands of lasers. www.coldlasers.org and coldlasers.com (same owner):

High peak power + short duration + high frequency = Best therapeutic doses to deep injuries up to 4” in tissue.

Balogne folks. Where is the proof to back this “formula”? Let me save you some research time…it doesn’t exist.

I really have to laugh at all the different models they have as if they are each somehow uniquely special therapeutically. It’s like walking into a office supply store and finding a laser pen pointer section each laser pen looking different with slightly different price tags. I imagine practitioners believing in the illusion of product selection and that these devices are more sophisticated than they really are when they miss the point entirely that they are still just laser pens that are over priced.

Oh yes ask around you will hear from some of the practitioners who get “good” results with Erchonia. Like a broken record I have always said that all phototherapy devices have some level of efficacy. They work…so that is the good news

Many of the practitioners who will tell you I get great results with the Erchonia are usually telling the truth. Great compared to not using a laser. Ask them if they have tried other brands of lasers and higher powered devices especially (could even just be a stronger Class 3 not necessarily class 4 which is easy to find considering Erchonia is so low level). Almost every time the Erchonia user is totally biased as its the only laser they really have experience with.

Talk to practitioners that have used a variety of lasers over the last 10 years lets say and they will tell you its pretty easy to tell the difference between driving a LAmborgini or Ferrari and driving a 1970’s VW Beetle. But if all you ever drove was a VW Beetle you might believe that your car is adequate and couldn’t understand what higher performance cars might be like.

Let’s further the analogy why would you want to have a car that was able to cruise at 65mph? Doesn’t a car that can go at a top speed of 30mph still get you to your destination? Now imagine if the price tag on both cars was the same or in some situations imagine the 30mph car was more costly than the 65mph!Keep in mind that if you never really had experience with cars directly and you walked onto a car lot and a great sales person approached you, there is a very good chance they will close you on the 30mph.
