It’s important to review infrared sauna company’s shipping and packaging practices as the majority of technical problems your sauna will have tend to happen after the saunas leave the factory floor. For the brands I am a Dealer for I actually visit their HQ and tour the shipping and receiving warehouse as part of my due dilligence process.
You have to remember that better sauna companies fully inspect all the saunas they produce and test them on the factory floor to ensure they work perfectly. So how come consumers are getting their saunas and setting them up and having technical problems sometimes?
Sometimes quality control and testing at the factory isn’t adequate. Sometimes it’s the freight shippers to blame being too rough during transit things get jostled.
Usually the larger nationwide shipper hands off your sauna to localized regional fullfillment which is a smaller company. There is a lot of changing hands and things that happen from the factory floor before it gets to you so that is why I am very concerned on working with companies that package their saunas well hence this video.
DID YOU KNOW?
85% of infrared sauna brands I have reviewed do this same cheap manufacturing practice of not using the same wood type throughout the sauna because it reduces production costs. They might mix hemlock or particle board or plywood.
What I have found is that sauna companies trying to cut costs through this construction approach are also the same ones willing to compromise on other aspects as to the quality.
So when you learn a company does this practice be sure to grill them in greater detail about other aspects of their sauna.
Almost everytime particle board and plywood are made with toxic means and when heated up can create off gassing or VOC chemicals. Some sauna companies claim that they have had theirs tested and they are safe. I’m not sure if I 100% believe this is true as I have seen the tests and still have my questions about how they are done. Also the tests were run right after the plywood or board was manufactured….they don’t run the tests inside the sauna after they have been running off and on for months. Remember molecular compounds break down in heat OVER TIME. So the tests don’t represent real world usage and potential risks.
One thing I know for sure is that synthetic chemicals will breakdown over time due to thermal heat expansion and contraction. A couple companies claim they have less toxic particle and plywood and have had theirs third party tested for VOC. Maybe it’s safe….
So why not just have peace of mind and purchase brands that use only the same wood type through and through. No plywood, luan wood, particle board etc etc. Like solid Cedar, or Basswood, or Poplar etc etc?
What I have found is that Sauna companies willing to invest more on their sauna wood construction costs also are more willing to use higher grade components elsewhere in the sauna.
Interestingly the companies using the cheaper sauna construction approach also seem to think it’s ok to charge the same amount of money as truly higher quality constructed saunas.

This video about infrared sauna emitter testing and review with one of the best infrared cameras. Finally we can put to bed the whole debate about do cloth covers over carbon emitters reduce the infrared output and lower the surface temperature of them.
It’s not just the thermal cloth though…when you disburse your total sauna wattage over a greater surface area of emitters/heaters on the walls the intensity of heat output per square inch will be lower the larger that surface area. that’s why this video is helpful because you can see the two different designs one brand with less square inches of emitters but lower down the walls concentrating the higher output on your body and thus you see those hotter surface temps on the camera.

Relax Sauna has been around a long time and has always had a great reputation for how it holds up over time. The materials are all completely non toxic and the website does a great job educating on true facts about the specs on their EMF and also their ceramic emitters. Yes they have a patent and you can look it up. Yes it is true that you can modulate the temp fluxuations across energy going to a ceramic chip or plate and thus produce a higher percentage of the longer wave FAR. This company is not the only one on the market to do this Therasauna does as well which are full size cabins. I do also sell that brand if you need a quote I sell 10 infrared sauna brands total.
The claims are legit from Relax. Now the inside of the tent is unique in how it reflects the infrared most efficiently while the other tent style brands do not do this because they instead hang carbon emitters from the sides which also works well however it does not warm up as quickly and get as high as the Relax. I have personally not been too happy with how mild the intensity has been of other tent brands when the room is on the colder side in the colder months of the year. I have no complaints about Relax sauna brand.
1. HELP WITH DETOXIFICATION Sauna therapy, particularly far infrared sauna therapy, is beneficial for detoxification. While this is a relatively new field of research, data suggests that heat exposure is beneficial to your energy-producing mitochondria. If you’re having trouble recharging your batteries, I strongly advise you to try sauna therapy.
9. INCREASES THE NEUROTROPHIC FACTOR DERIVED FROM THE BRAIN (BDNF) Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a protein found in the brain that aids in the maintenance of a youthful and healthy brain.
